Roisin White

Róisín White is a visual artist based in Dublin, working primarily with photography while incorporating drawing, sculpture, and collage into her practice. Róisín holds a BA (hons) in Photography from DIT, and certificates in Ceramics, Sculpture, and Drawing from NCAD.

Róisín White’s work draws from archival materials, where she has an interest in exploring lore and the fictional narrative that can be discovered in discarded imagery, previous understandings agitated, and new meanings are drawn out. Storytelling and process are central parts of White’s practice, bringing the personal notebook to the wall, and these conversations to the audience.
White has an interest in stories that have been previously overlooked, that intersect with the body, and that are multifaceted; combining mediums and providing a space for investigation.

White is a children’s visual arts facilitator in addition to her personal practice, and she is inspired by the sense of play and curiosity that young people have while making art. White tries to consider how a young audience might experience her work, and how their reading and understanding may differ greatly from that of an adult, and how this might influence her practice and mode of delivery.

Róisín was the Emerging Artist in Residence in 2019, with a solo exhibition at The Darkroom “Cross the Child’s Palm with Silver” in April 2019.
