APD01 - Introduction to Film Photography using 35 and 120 Cameras
Dates: November 25th and 26th
This course is an introduction to analogue photography using 35mm and 120 film cameras. During the course, you will learn how to use the manual settings of a SLR camera. This will include aperture, shutter, and ISO speeds, as well as the effect of these settings on exposure and creativity. You will learn how to load film in the camera and how to take meter readings to properly expose your film. On Day One, we will go for a photo walk, looking at different perspectives in ways to capture a good image. You will end the day by developing your film. On Day Two, you will learn how to make a contact print by selecting an image and using your negative to make a print in the enlarger. This is where the magic happens and when you see your image appear in the developer tray. The Dark Room will provide all materials, including film and photographic paper. For the duration of this course, we can supply 35mm SLR cameras with a fully refundable deposit.
Our workshops are designed with a limited number of spaces in order to ensure that each participant receives valuable one-to-one attention from the tutor and enjoys their time at the Dark Room.
Duration: Two days (Saturday & Sunday) 10.30am – 4.30pm, both days.
